Best Christian Books for Women– 5 Books Every Christian Woman Should Read

We have to start this list with 5 books every Christian woman should read. If you haven't given any of these books a read, start here my friend.

These books changed my life, and I pray that they change yours as well.

1) Discerning the Voice of God

By Priscilla Shirer

Understanding who God is and who you are as a daughter of God affects everything you do in life.

For so long, I had no idea what my purpose was or what I was supposed to do with my life, but all that changed when I did this Bible study.

This book led to my salvation—my decision to give my life to Christ and to follow Jesus. God showed me who he was and showed me who I was in return as a daughter of God. He opened my eyes to what a relationship with him looked like.

And I loved the bible study format of this book. It helped me start to reading the Bible regularly and helped me establish my morning quiet time with God.

I highly recommend this study for anyone who wants to strengthen their relationship with God, or if you want to hear God’s voice more in your life.

2) The Purpose Driven Life

What on Earth Am I Here For?

By Rick Warren

If you are still trying to discover your purpose in this world or how to live out your best life as a Christian, this is a must read.

And if you are focused on fulfilling your unique purpose that God has for you, but you are missing out on the bigger picture of being a Christian altogether, you need to read this book.

Whether you are a new Christian or have been walking with God for a while now, this book breaks down our purpose and calling as a Christian in such an easy-to-understand format.

The book discusses the purpose we all have in this world as Christians as well as how God reveals the unique purpose and calling he has on each of our lives.

Highly recommend for anyone who wants to better understand their purpose in general as a Christian or if you want to find your unique purpose and calling that God has for you.

3) Sex and the Single Christian Girl

Fighting for Purity in a Rom-Com World

By Marian Jordan Ellis

My list of books every Christian woman should read would be incomplete without a book on dating and relationships.

And since I spent most of my 20s doing things completely wrong when it came to sex and dating, this book is my #1 book recommendation for women trying to approach sex, dating, and romantic relationships in a godly way.

This is also known as my go-to purity book, but I realized that the word ‘purity’ leaves some people running for the hills.

If you want to do thing’s God’s way when it comes to dating and sex, this is a must read. Learn why God’s way is important, and why all the stuff the world tells you about dating and sex is causing more harm than good.

This is my go to purity book. I read this numerous times when I was first learning about purity and what the Bible says about sex. This book showed me that it is possible to surrender sex to God and that it is possible to wait until marriage to have sex.

It gave me practical advice and steps to take to surrender my purity to God and to be redeemed from my past sexual sin.

I give this purity book to anyone at my church that is struggling with purity.

If you are struggling with surrendering your sex life to God or if you want to learn more about how to obey God’s design for sex, this is a must read.

I’ve given this book to some of my friends who aren’t super close to God and they still loved it. I love how this book talks about issues and struggles we face in life and the power of God and his angels that protect and support us along the way.

Highly recommend if you are looking for an enjoyable read and a powerful story of the love and power of God working in our lives.

5) The Bible

This list would be incomplete with The Bible. I didn’t read the Bible for so long because I thought it was boring and outdated.

But after God showed me who he was in the Discerning the Voice of God Bible study, I finally understood why reading the Bible was so important.

I finally understood that there were people that actually did read the Bible, and I’ve already experienced how reading the Bible can change your life.

If you’re new to reading the Bible, learn more about how to read the Bible as a beginner, including recommend Bible translations to start with.

Love Defined

By Kristen Clark & Bethany Baird

The Girl Defined Blog was the first Christian blog for women that I started reading. I learned so much about God, my role as a woman, and purity through their blog and this book.

I loved how Kristen & Bethany aren’t afraid to discuss the tough questions or issues that nobody wants to talk about (porn, masturbation, dating a nonbeliever, etc.)

Highly recommend if you are looking to better understand purity and how to date in a way that honor’s God.

If you are stuck between following the ways of the world vs. following Jesus, this is the book for you.

John discusses how to discern God’s will from the distractions around you, and how to recognize something that appears good vs. God’s best for your life.

The Enemy loves to distract us with things that seem good, but really lure us further away from God and the plans he has for us.

By Francine Rivers

Another one of my favorite Christian fiction authors. I love how Francine takes stories from the Bible and adds more detail and color to what the characters must have gone through.

This book takes you through the story of 5 women from the Bible – Rahab, Ruth, Tamar, Bathsheba, and Mary. You’ll see their life and story from a new perspective through this book. You’ll get a better understanding of what they thought, felt and dreamed of as well as how their faith in God made their story possible.

A Distant Shore

By Karen Kingsbury

This is one of Karen Kingsbury’s more recent novels, and it won’t disappoint. A Distant Shore captures a love story while addressing the real-world issue of human trafficking.

While this book is still written in Karen’s trademark life-changing fiction style, this novel includes more suspense to leave you needing to figure out what happens.

And it takes place on the tropical coast of Belize, making it a perfect beach read to fly through on vacation.

Stay With Me

By Becky Wade

I recently discovered Becky Wade’s contemporary romance novels and I’ve become a huge fan. While romance is the focus of the book, Becky also incorporates other themes and topics that add depth to the story.

And these aren’t your typical cheesy, romance novel. I love how she addressed a real issue that woman may struggle with, an addiction to pills, and how to receive God’s grace when we fall short.

God, Where Are You?!

By John Bevere

Finding Strength and Purpose in Your Wilderness

If you’re feeling far away from God, or like you haven’t heard from God or felt his presence in your life in awhile, this book is for you.

We all go through seasons as a Christian, where we feel super close to God and feel like we are hearing his voice a lot in our lives.

And then there are those seasons where we may feel spiritually dry—like God is no where in sight even though we’ve been doing all the Christian-like things.

I recently read this book and it encouraged me so much when God felt far away and when he was moving in my life like I had been praying for.

I love how John Bevere talks about that there is purpose in the wilderness season, and that it is not a punishment.
